Honestly I want to get rid of passwords and use signatures instead. There is no security advantage to them and there isn't a situation where using a password is ideal. The only problem is people aren't used to the interaction of using a signature. You can even use a software that generates a private key on the fly based on a password, so if you still want to use passwords instead of files stored on your computer you can. But the way browsers are built today you would have to use a separate application to generate the signature and then paste it in.
