"Gender identity has a biological basis" It's good that you concede that it's a basis. It's actually really important we agree on this. Now keep that thought going--if it is the basis but a basis is only a starting point, then gender identity does not have to stay the same and can end up completely different than the biological origin. Now add in the non-obvious cases--biological hermaphrodites (both sex organs) and overproducers of hormones who develop the "wrong" way (like a boy growing breasts at puberty or a woman who grows facial hair) and you can start to see how body dysmorphia is a legit disorder with no one-size-fits-all solution.
