Post Office SOP. Why deliver it when it's cheaper to dump it.
It's interesting how the narrative of anti-post office stuff keeps flying.
This actually happens a lot, much more than people think. This is exactly why the Postal Inspectors exist.
The media is either very stupid or just not telling all the facts (probably the latter). This wasn't some idiot dumping his mail so he didn't have to deliver his route. This was a contractor that decided that he didn't want to do the job and just wanted to get paid. A lot of the long-haul stuff that you see on the highways and interstates are contractors driving between the distro facilities, even the big-rig types. This was a short-haul route between the main sorting facility and a post office where the carriers sort out stuff for their routes and I can tell that just from the size of the truck and roughly what was in the bundles.
They'll find him and pretty quickly, the mail is tracked so much now it's not funny as that's all general mail, not Amazon boxes and such. That guy is going to end up being very sorry he attempted this stupidity. The video is just the icing on the cake for when he gets sent to prison. You don't fuck with the mail.

I saw that a few days ago. I'm keeping a big eye on Portland for various reasons.
Wyden is a shit head. He keeps getting elected even though he only visits Oregon once in a while - enough to say he "lives" there part of the year. He spends more time in DC and NY.
