Also calling semis 'automatics' was more common before the brady bill when they tried to and did ban "assault style" weapons for a time. The language does matter more these days as the gun grabbers demands have gotten bolder. It's pretty common for older guys that have been shooting all their lives to call something like a 1911 an automatic even tho it is semi. It's like a throwback from the transition from single action to double and so on that kinda got passed down over the years. But I digress.
