Actually the US hasn't been near Israel since Reagan. The didn't like it when they asked the US to keep the peace and we did just that. When the Israelis tried to move a tank column to where they could begin an assault a US captain jumped on the lead tank and shoved his sidearm into the tank commander's face.

Ever since then we've leaned on their neighbors, well away from their borders.

Reuiters is also being quick to denounce the bomb as doctored footage. I wasn't there so I have to rely on info I see second hand but my gut doubts the fluke chemical ignition. We'll see if Hezbollah does anything to retaliate but we may not get a good, full, account of if they do.
