My theory is that the animals they used for testing were sold to the local meat market after they died from the diseases after some poor stupid cunt (the majority of chinese) went dumpster diving.

They really are that stupid.

Anything is on the table at the moment, but my bet is that the whole 'bat soup' narrative was untrue. To me, it's probably more likely, knowing that the virus is not airborne, that something got flushed into a regular sewer system and into the general water supply where it got picked up by many of the people in the region.

Also not to insinuate that the Chinese were following all of these procedures https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5092168/, but the disposal guidelines seem like they should have had all the biological materials well sterilized and formalin-fixed (what they preserve anatomical samples in; nasty, nasty stuff) on disposal. Any bats recovered from a dumpster would not only taste like absolute ass, but probably also be inedible, as well. There would have been more GI issues in the case of ingestion rather than upper respiratory. Just my 2¢
