Same here. I went from not knowing what they were - and making the mistake of stepping on one - to seeing them everywhere I went. Now there seems to be fewer of them.
When they first showed up, they would swarm the doors of my house. Literally thousands of them would be swarmed around the house doors and windows. Couldn't walk in the door without having five of them falling on you, while 10 more buzz around your face.
Hate those damn things.
Great googly moogly, that is horrible. It was never that bad here, thank whatever gods may be.
The worst experience was trying to start the wood stove in the fall. Bunch of them had hidden themselves in the fireplace and under the ash for warmth, so when I started the fire, it was like something straight out of a horror movie. Bugs crawling frantically out of the ash, swarming the living room. It was horrible.
Shopvac was best friend. Would go around vacuuming them up from around the doorways and screens. End up with literal trash bags worth of dead stink bugs.
I hate those damn things.
