In my formative years, as I was gaining an interest in poetry, I was given a book by a former priest whose name I have sadly forgotten. To paraphrase: Many don't want to be free It's far easier to be thankful of todays chains And grateful for the passing of yesterdays pains It struck me when I read & I spent a long time thinking about it. Now I can see the truth, the danger, and the warning of those words.
