Homegrown tomatoes always taste so much better.

I kind of forgot, but the missus just reminded me this morning of that first year we lived here, we had an epic tomato crop; we jut had too many and were giving them away to neighbours! We made a huge batch of tomato bisque from scratch [and it's harder than I'd expected], which was DELICIOUS!

Now I remember saying we'd need to make this an annual tradition, but weird frost / mist killed those plants dead, and we've yet to grow others like them... until now [hopefully]! This year's batch of tomato plants are looking pretty damned good... I hope I'm not jynxing them here!

I guess the store tomatoes never get to ripen all the way on the vine before they're picked or something.

I've heard that they do something to the plant so all the tomato are ripe at the same time. This makes harvesting easier, but reduces flavor.

I'm not sure if this is true, but it makes sense.

That bisque sounds awesome!

Huh, that makes sense, even if it may not necessarily be completely true,.. but it sounds true!

It was a big giant cauldron of bisque, too! I thought it would last us AGES! It did not last us ages. It was much too delicious.
