Absolutely. Just a means to an end, unfortunately. Few things get done without a supporting group united politically.
So start hob knobbing and memeing, sharing relevant news with your new group, gathering opinions, or at least asking for them (drives participation), and ask-ask-ask people to join. Even if it's just to vent.
And let it go from there, no commitments necessary.
If you do decide to follow through with the idea, let me know how it is coming along in 2-4 weeks, or whenever you start. Great things start small.
I'm doing the job hustle right now, got laid off today. So when I get a hold on that, I may look into this thing.

Was in the middle of a career change when this shit started so I can relate.
I left a strange environment. It was starting to get toxic, and the owner and his buddies are alcoholics that drink a lot during work. The place was dirty, and had no interest in new stuff - work was starting to suffer. So I'm scared, but relieved to get out of there right now.
