Fuck your "sacred land". I will say it would have been cool if they'd let someone in to transplant the saguaros, especially any really old ones, as they are in high demand and can fetch a big price, but I'm not too broken up about it.
Good point. I'm sure people would have volunteered to come get them.
They can get up to 150+ years old. It's a big deal if regular people cut them down in AZ, a class 4 felony. I fell in love with the desert landscape when I moved to AZ. Taking a motorcycle ride through Saguaro National Park not long after I moved here was a real treat.
Sounds awesome. I haven't had a chance to get down there yet.
