Most don't stop for a moment to think, what the hell is really going on as they're kept nice and busy and under duress from one urgent situation to another. And, as you say, don't even stop to think about what Iran represents or their history. Hell, they've even got us throwing away our own history so how is it we'd be able to understand the middle east. It's almost like they want us to place ourselves into a of our own making that we would than embrace reality.
