Only "Holocaust" stories I am inclined to believe are "Life was tough in the camp." because, you know, it's a POW camp (said people who say that often believe "it was tough but I lucked out and made it through!" because they buy post-war propaganda). Even then some of the camps were, while not a resort, better then your average concentration camp, come on swimming pool? My neighbor's father was a US soldier who was captured and put in a concentration camp. He said the work was tough and rations were limited, but the Germans never treated them inhumanely. The only time he ever saw anyone killed was when they shot a Polish guy who was attempting to escape. Of course when he brought this up he was told "well that was just a concentration camp, all of the death camps were in the east!" which I found interesting. So I looked at a map of which were concentration camps and which were "death camps" and the latter were only within Soviet occupied territory, any camps within British, American, and French occupied territory were merely concentration camps... Imagine that. Various eastern Europian nations, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine, etc. have all claimed the USSR used the camps themselves after the war. This is only supported by pictures of camp modifications after the war ended (most notable being the Auschwitz chimney), admittedly photos can be faked, but considering you can actually go there and see it for yourself... I am sure this is all old news, but I felt like getting it off my chest anyway.
