Innovation is dead. Rather than do something new to push us forward in the evolution of technology, the Maker community keeps repackaging the same old shit into smaller, less powerful or silly applications. Nothing lurches forward when Doom or Tetris get put on yet another inappropriate platform, but the community cheers it for 10 seconds and goes back to making the same 15 projects for RPi or Arduino they have for the last 10 years.
Back in the 80s we had an electronics hobbyist community who actually made new and exciting things with lesser technology that we have today. It's sad to see that innovative spirit stagnating when we live in a time where new and exciting things should be happening on a daily basis. The future turned out stupid and lazy. Sad.
