Why would anyone want one, though?

I'm sorry, but the host in this video comes across as a boring know-it-all. Even in his video he shows basic perpetual motion machines, and then discounts them because they don't work in a vacuum, they don't work in a closed system, or whatever.

We live in a world with effective perpetual motion examples in nature (as long as the sun shines). For example, consider the hydrologic cycle where we can use dams and turbine-generators to easily extract energy from rain runoff that has collected behind the dam from streams wihtout impacting the hydrologic cycle in the least as long as the dam is maintained and the weather patterns remain consistent.
