Indeedly doodly neighbor! My mother got one of these as a wedding gift in 1955. It’s one of my most prized possessions today. It still works like a charm. Perfect toast every time. The only repair has been a new cord. I remember her telling us to never stick a fork or knife in it, I see why now! She always unplugged it, wrapped the cord around it and put it away in a cabinet after it cooled down, as do I. Too big to leave out anyway unless you have lots of counter space. They are definitely worth hunting around for in the antique shops or eBay. My brother found one on eBay after he realized I had absconded with mom’s after she passed.

Thanks for posting, now I’ll know how to repair should it ever fail to work. Maybe put the ground wire in. Not. And fuck a kike ass bagel slot on new toasters.
