LOL - on the SBBH shit ... we operate on sites dominated by those with conspiratorial delusions, so it's to be expected. I generally have no interest in those dramas and stand clear. But that's me.
On Voat ... the 'days of darkness' were the knockout blow for me. I'd already been slowly migrating to Phuks for a few months previously, seeing the steady decline there. That did it. Enough was enough. I wasted two plus years helping to bring good content and fighting spam, etc, etc. Then when it was obvious that Putt didn't give a rats ass and good users started peeling away, I just completely had it. I post exclusively to Phuks and here now. I want to see both succeed, good people at both. Voat, I still have my account, but have not posted or commented for a month now. I simply swing by once and awhile to see how it's doing. And as projected, it appears in a deep dive.
I don't actually like most of the goats, but I do like some - and I like them a great deal.
I'm still on Voat because I have the guitar thread and because I enjoy keeping in touch with them. I actually have many of their emails and phone numbers, but a centralized location is nice.
I'm largely there for the guitar thread. That's turned into a wonderful, wonderful thing. I call it a diamond in the rough or voat's best kept secret. If it goes down, we'll regroup on a site that I already have set up.
And, I wasn't actually interested in the drama - they came and sought me out! LOL It's not like I went looking for them.
The whole time they were going through the drama thing, I kept wondering to myself why they felt they were that important. They're not so important that I actually want to control 'em. Frankly, I'd completely forgotten about them until they showed up here.
Like you, I try to stay clear of the drama - but I don't mind watching it. It amuses me and I'm easily amused.
If either of these two sites worked worth a damn on mobile, I'd seriously consider being more active on them and less active on Voat. I use an iPad and I don't trust my iPad, so I only use the default software. I install zero apps. That means I use mobile Safari and whatever version it is on. It doesn't work well with Phuks or Poal. In fact, it doesn't really work at all.
It relies too heavily on JavaScript and that's just silly. Neither of them make very good use of it, either. The page destinations after replying from your notifications page is just silly. Putting you into nested comments afterwards is even sillier. I don't even think submissions work on mobile Safari, so I can't submit from mobile.
I've been trying to move to a more mobile solution and spend less time sitting at a desk with a laptop or a desktop. (Laptops shouldn't actually be used on soft surfaces. Calling them laptops is a bit of a misnomer.) I was spending too much time in my den. So, I'm trying to use mobile more often.
I could probably update the iPad and have it work better. I don't update it. I don't do anything serious on it. If something happens, I just reset it. I have zero real important information on it. I don't trust it. I trust it only slightly more than I trust my cell phone. I don't trust that damned thing, not even a little bit.
