that is much farther north, like a few more hours north if i were to guess, i pretty sure it north of Two Harbors. I've been on section of it tho. You have to way more carefull and in shape and know what you doing as you further north, one could get lost. Its a crazy trail system, and could end up in the middle of nowhere.

they have signage in most areas pointing you with mileage - directions to where etc, not sure about the more remote areas tho

Ah okay. I thought I read somewhere that it has sections starting in Duluth.

You definitely have to respect the trail out there from what I've read. The trails I've done in OH and PA aren't nearly as risky as far as getting lost, still I have my compass, and map, GPS via my phone. If I did I higher risk trail like that I'd probably get one of those Garmin InReach devices or a similar product.

there is a lot of interconnecting trails that lead to it, i honestly could go out my back door and get to it via trails

but im sure, the superior trail starts at two harbors

That makes sense.

I'm jealous, I have to drive at least 2.5 hours to get to the nearest backpacking trail around me.
