Let the irony roll. What if you go to your panic room.. Then the home invaders are squatters and claim to live there.. You now live in a panic room and cant leave but if you try to get rid of the invaders you are arrested. NY is a failed city and state.

>New Yorkers are going on a paranoid spending spree. 'I've never been busier,' one of America's longest-running makers of high-end 'panic rooms' confessed this week. Heavily fortified 'safe spaces,' some with electrified doorknobs, ballistic doors and facial-recognition locks, have become all the rage among Manhattan's elite. At a starting price of $50,000, these custom-built panic rooms, complete with bulletproof night-vision gear, medical kits and food supplies, can be constructed to blend in invisibly with any building — from a stately old pre-war townhouse to a glassy penthouse loft.

Panic room designers say Americans should store 30-days worth of frozen food

So if shit really hits the fan, do their panic rooms also have nuclear generators to keep that food frozen?

[–] 1 pt

No shit right? Either the writer fucked up or the Panic room designers did. That probably should have said something like "freeze dried food". Not "frozen food". But you know.. DEI and whatnot. Some diversity hire thinks they are the same thing probably.

So many other things wrong with this. NY has a bad crime problem on the best days. If something happens where a panic room is needed, it would be best to not be anywhere near a huge population center where after a couple of days, the only people around will be those who have no problem killing people to take what they want.

Yeah, I think a Panic "escape pod" would be a better idea. Something that can eject you out of the building to a place that you can get in a armored vehicle and get the fuck out of NY.. Since you are stupid enough to live there in the first place.

They go into the room and you just lock them in.

Are these panic rooms fireproof? Like if the zombies decide to torch the house and leave?

[–] 0 pt

No. They are actual death-traps in case of fire.

We handle things differently here in Texas. Many years ago when I caught someone inside my home all I could get out of them was, "Please don't kill me! Please don't kill me! Please don't kill me!"

(while firing rapidly in their direction).

The sheep of NY have watched too many movies where 'someone' is coming to save them. NO ONE but the starving 'zombies' hunting Them. I think the movie was called 'Escape from NY'.

I assume a panic room is used to keep you safe until the cops arrive. Who knows what keeps you safe after that.

I guess that is the idea. But if someone intends to doing you harm you just locked yourself in a box you cannot escape and are hoping the police are going to help you. I don't like that idea.
