This is precisely the kind of (((shit))) that should be eradicated from US politics, preferably by eradicating those who do it.

But we can start small. Criminalize donations in excess of $100. Any candidate's campaign that violates this immediately disqualified from election. If a violation is discovered after an election in which the violating candidate wins, he is immediately dismissed from office.

Criminalization implies criminal prosecution. A conviction comes with 10000 hours of personal community service, and a lifetime ban on holding any political office or communicating with anyone in a political office.

Vermont forbids a person from holding office if they have received money from anyone outside the U.S. within the preceding year. Styxhexenhammer was going to run for governor but this law tripped him up.
