4 was better than 3 IMO. I own 5 but pretty much skipped it. The only new and interesting characters Capcom has come up with are Juri & C. Viper. I think the only reason I like them because they both remind me of SNK characters. None of the noobs in 6 look interesting.
Do you game on PC? Have you ever played M.U.G.E.N.?
I more of a console guy but yes I have played Mugen. It's kinda fun but in the end it's a joke.
A joke? I don't know. I guess it all depends on what exactly you had setup. That part turns a lot of players away. Having to manually add characters and stages. There are really talented creators and if the time is taken to make a balanced roster of characters you can make really exciting 2D fighting games.
I made a 1000+ character roster mugen game my kids and I have been playing for years. Random select only. Some chars are OP. Some are weak. But that's half the fun. And the team modes make it even better. All characters from all fighting games, plus tons of original creations. Crazy fun.
