Released in 86. That was the year I graduated high-school. One of my favorites then. Much later in the mid 90s, I traveled all over Egypt. This song came to mind.

As an 18 year old in the 80s, I can absolutely understand the... "appeal" of the Bangles (that bedhead hair is kind of sexy), and I can appreciate this nostalgia, but I hate bands like this in the modern day, so I suppose that hate extends back in time.

An example of a modern band like this would be... idk, AJR? Or maybe 21 Pilots (although they can actually play their instruments if they chose to,), where the focus is not on the music, but on the performance and ravenous, bizarre fanbases they develop.

They'll get on stage and mimic playing their instruments and lip sync, and fool the world (not me) into believing they're talented or skilled musicians. This is disgusting to me, and disingenuous- art should be absolutely genuine.

I agree with what you say. But, when I was younger, I was oblivious to their lack of talent.
I taught aerobics in the late 80s to this song. Nostalgia, indeed. I also wore my hair like theirs too back then.
