You want to hear some righteous Harrison, listen to this original studio take of his song . No, I didn't get the title wrong. This is so much better than that over-stuffed "wall of sound" thing that Phil Spector tricked up.

While Spectors WOS was a significant development in recording techniques, it was more effective in certain genre's and songs, and this wasn't one of them. I think your assessment of "over-stuffed" is a good description and the song is more obscured than enhanced in that version.

George may have been influenced and accustomed to Sir George Martin's involvement with the Beatles, which was a more refined technique than Spector, and maybe was trying to distance himself from the Beatles by going with Spector on this album. I agree the original version fits the style and content of the song much better.

That is a great version of the song. I had to listen to the other version for comparison, and the wall of sound is awful. Thank you for sharing this. I had never heard it before.
