As an amateur musician with very little formal music theory training, I can safely say I don't know shit about the difference of 8 Hertz between 432 and 440 in a musical sense. But, as an electrical engineer turned software programmer, I say 8 Hertz would only be significant in critical timing systems like precision clocks or AC power supply frequencies. Everything else has wide variation and that includes musical instruments. My ears aren't golden so maybe I can't detect the difference but I don't think most people could either if they didn't know about the Hertz stuff.
I've only glanced at theory that music changed to a different frequency in the 20th century that is not "good?". Also I'm beginning to wonder about why bells went away.
