Maybe you need to branch out into genres that aren't popular music. Look at soma.fm, they have a lot of odd and unusual music channels.

It's the only streaming service I give any money to, and that's because they're donation-funded.

I am happy to hear that soma.fm is still around I was huge fan when they first started with just down tempo beats.

A good radio station is my only hope but they're all like listening to a radio station version of reddit.

soma.fm is online only. They have multiple channels. No ads, just the random bumper.

Tell us what you listen to and maybe we can suggest some things that you might like.

Mostly agree.

80s was probably the peak. 90s started the descent, however somewhere around early 2000s it just cliff disappeared. I believe this is because stuff like napster killed the whole music industry except for the globohomo's ability to pay for some high production bands. And because those bands were globohomo, they just naturally killed themselves. Now there is nothing.

And I don't necessarily mean literally nothing. There are some indie bands and one man show bands that did well but they're all indie (thinking of Fitz and the Tantrums, bonobo, Amon tobin, Telan Devik, Lofia Soren, RJD2).

But this a drop compared to the new talent and work that would have come out in a decade 90s and prior.

Funny you say that, I was typing the same statement about 80s/90s.

I do like some 2000s rock/metal, but I'm primarily listening to the 80s.

System of a Down's "Steal This Album" was probably one of the last pre napster music economy album's made.

Same. Few exceptions post 2000 but there are some. Everything phenomenal was prior.

Chopin. Rachmaninov. Tchaikovsky.

Just listen to russian circles

My favorite artists are dead people.

Was thinking more like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Bobby Darin, Mel Tormé, Tom Jones and so on.

Start listening to music from other countries. I like listening to Russian music. They do a better job of censoring their media too. No LGBT bullshit.

I think some kind of spell has expired and now the old music doesn't sound the same.
