I wish I had been into German cars instead of Italian and American in that era. Might still be on the road
I have been a tech since before 1970. By 1970 I was 16 and building air cooled VWs. By 1984 I was a Master level tech with Audi, Porsche,VW, BMW and Benz.Just today I rebuilt a cylinder head for a VW 1.8 turbo Passat that dumped a t/belt and 20 valves. I still have 2 BMW E36 Cabrio's, one with the M3 setup, A TDI Passat and a 18 t Passat. The last Italian car I worked on a Alfa and it had burnt valves. Getting the head off was awfull. The head was seized to the studs.
I have a 74 Alfa coupe and a 76 Spyder. Pity me. Also owned a 79 Maserati. Hell to own. Fun to drive and sexy for those brief moments
I should have gone German.
I did some carb work on a "Bi -Turbo" v6 one time and I hated that stuff. Had a Spyder once with an "intermitant" miss fire that was never fixed. Whats the one with engine in front and trans in back ?? 6 something GT6 maybe? I could not find a fuel tank for it. I have had 1 Eye talian car. 1976 Fiat X19. 1300cc duel carbs headers and lots of RPMs. The bore on the carbs was 6 inches total, That is like a Holley 600 on a 1300cc engine. REDLINE engine it was.
