Romance in F minor for violin and orchestra, Op. 11, B. 39 by Antonín Dvořák
Czech composer Antonín Dvořák completed this romance for violin and orchestra in 1877, with the premiere performance being given in December the same year at the Žofín Palace in Prague. The work was composed per a request from Josef Markus, the director of the Provisional Theatre Orchestra of Prague. The work takes several elements from another Dvořák composition, his String Quartet No. 5 in F minor.
Dvořák would adapt the work for violin and piano in dedication of Czech violinist František Ondříček, however this version would not be published during Dvořák’s lifetime.
This work is comprised of single movement.
