Miniature Suite by Eric Coates

Coates completed this short suite for orchestra in 1911 while primarily working as a violist in the Queen’s Hall Orchestra. In this same year Coates would meet his future wife Phyllis Marguerite Black, however at the time the Black family were against a marriage as the 25-year-old Coates had only a modest income and was not at that time the famous composer he would eventually become.

This suite is comprised of three movements: I. Children's Dance II. Intermezzo III. Scène du Bal
