The Marriage of Figaro: Overture, K. 492 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Mozart composed the Marriage of Figaro in 1786 as a commission from the Imperial Italian opera company. The opera is based on the plays by French playwright Pierre Beaumarchais, however the content of the Mozart operatic version differs from the original play due to alternations required by the Austrian censor of the court of Emperor Joseph II.
