So I've been plugging away at aeolian and mixolydian and the strangest thing I noticed. E aeolian for example has the exact same notes as G major. I know you already know that. So here I am memorizing the pattern for aeolian when I already know the major scale and suddenly I forgot why the hell I'm doing this.

I suppose the practicality is staying in the same position to play all the chords and just highlighting notes.

I suppose, I just did this crazy Russian scales drill on the piano that goes through the entire circle of fifths with a bunch of hoops to jump through every day for 15+ years, so I think my brain is just wires differently now lmao

I play guitar but I find instead of learning music, I'm just up and down the scales. I only recently took to the theory and scales but have been playing since a teen.

Ok I did the whole thing where I assumed you were a pianist 😵 I assume the modes of the scales are more useful in guitar? Or are you practicing them as a way to get your dexterity and precision up?
