There are states in which it is clear, you are allowed to kill anyone trespassing in your property, period. Here's the thing, invaders expect that, and don't try, but jews explained to them exactly which areas are safe to just take over. This problem did not come from nowhere, most people (invaders included) have expectations of the law. The jews knew what exceptions there are, and shared them with invaders.
