Money, is the only universally recognized (almost) system we have in place, that is legal and that can allow to filter out the "undesirables", to segregate

I'm not saying that's great, in terms of values, morally speaking, I'm just saying that's pretty much all there's; either you can afford to live in the gated community or you can't, and if you can't you are physically barred from entering, or physically removed by private security staff if you trespassed, and everything is privatized like that, just like in disneyland you didn't pay the ticket, access is physically denied

Pricing out the undesirables from society/the environment, that's the whole concept, the entire idea, and it's not new in a lot of areas it's already the case since a while or even forever, it's just a "logic" that is doomed to get much worse as time goes by given the model of society we are embarqued with

Now there are alternatives which aren't strictly based on the sheer size of your bank account, but still, they also rely on a form of "barrier to entry". I could name amish/mennonites, who rely on a cult/lifestyle. On their turf either you live by their rules or you're expelled and most people's lifestyle simply isn't compatible with theirs, it takes sacrifices and particular skills... Then you have people living on their boat, same deal pretty much you have to sacrifice some aspects of "normal life" and have a particular set of skills... That's a couple of examples on top of my head, there are certainly many other examples of "communities" living in parallel of the mainstream society and that aren't directly exposed to many of its ills precisely because by their very nature they have some sort of "barrier of entry" surrounding them, access denied
