There was actual war (as extreme as the violence can get) in Paris and almost the entire Marquis was executed by the Nazis while they occupied France. Case Yellow and Case Red (Case Red was how France fully fell and surrendered) was how the Third Reich defeated the French, Belgium, British, and Dutch forces, taking over France proper and their ports, fully, by the end of June 1940. There was bloody fighting all the way into Paris. The top image does not represent how fierce the fighting actually got. Far worse than the bottom image which looks like a bunch of animals going ape shit on some property. Case Yellow and Case Red are strategies of brilliance that folks should study to learn how the early WWII fighting went to see how the Third Reich was a genuine military power with more than just machines.
