Is the fact that they are here illegally counted as one of those crimes for the purpose of this statement?

It matters. If the majority crime is the illegal immigration that is a little different than if it's social security fraud and federal violent crime charges.

For a fair comparison you would have to ignore the specific crimes of illegal entry or overstating visa, as residents cannot commit those crimes.

Makes no difference to whether or not they should be here, I'm just trying to understand the numbers behind the statement

Edit. From the map, it does seem as if I'm basically just seeing map showing the count on illegal immigration arrests.

The reason I say it matters is, if attempting to use this statistic in conversation, the party who disagrees will just claim that if everyone were just allowed in they would make up almost none of the crime then proceed to blindly believe it without ever looking in to it. You need a follow up to prevent them hiding behind a wall of ignorance.
