Official report of the police: on the night of 30.10.2020, a police patrol was physically attacked by several youths when they tried to mediate an argument between two men and to collect their personal data.
According to previous findings, a police patrol was on its way with a patrol car in the Zeil at about 10 p.m. when it observed an argument between two men. When one of the two men aggressively approached the other person, the policewoman and the officer intervened immediately to prevent anything worse from happening.
When the policeman tried to arrest the stranger, both fell to the ground. Subsequently, the officer was thrown stones and bottles at him by a surrounding group of presumably young people, consisting of about 25 people. Meanwhile, another perpetrator aimed a pepper spray at the policewoman, but fortunately missed her. The patrol immediately called for support and consequently withdrew for tactical reasons. The perpetrator, who had resisted having his personal details identified, tried to prevent the police from leaving by running in front of the patrol car and hanging himself from one of the wing mirrors. Finally, he let go of it so that the officers could continue their journey. When more patrol cars arrived at the scene, the youths immediately took flight. A close-range search did not lead to success.
