I recently watched Star Wars Episodes 1-6 with my kid. First time he had ever seen them. He asked if they made anymore. "No."
Which order did you go with? 4, 5, 6 > 1, 2, 3 or 1, 2, 3 > 4, 5, 6
I committed sacrilege, 1-6. I didn't want him to be turned off by the older look to the originals. It did ruin the Darth Vader father thing.
Thanks. I was curious which you chose to go with with there being positives and negatives to each viewing order; one being as you noted about Darth Vader.
I wonder if anyone has every introduced their kid to Star Wars by viewing them in reverse order from 6 > 1 to slowly reveal more backstory and how things came to occur. It could be an interesting change to the story presentation for someone who has never seen them. First seeing Luke's mechanical hand and then seeing how he lost it in his fight with Vader, then the piece falling into place later upon seeing Anakin lose his hand in the same way to Obi Wan and that moment of understanding of why Vader looked at his own hand in recognition after he severed Luke's mechanical one.
It wouldn't be the same due to my knowing the story, but I might give 6 > 1 a go just to test out how the story comes across.
