This movie is not untouched by anti-white sentiments. Specifically white male negativity. It isn't overwhelmed by it either.
The movie as a whole is very good. Very very dark. More dark than most wide releases are nowadays. The fact that this goes against the grain is the saving grace, I feel. The acting is good. Joaquin does a fantastic job at portraying a mentally disturbed psychopath. But there are moments of stiffness possibly because he was unable to relay as much pain as he wanted to.
The directing and writing was superb. Very moody and classic. I think it is worth seeing solely because of the modern yet dramatically classic style of film this turned out to be.
