I never watched the 2nd one. I have a copy (that I bought) but I have never bothered to watch it and my Wife doesn't seem to care either since she has never brought it up knowing we have a copy too.
The first one was a "good" movie in a way that it was.. Ok/Interesting-ish? I just didn't give a fuck about the 2nd one at all but now there is going to be a 3rd one? I don't think I care one bit about it at all either.
Maybe the 2nd-3rd are good or whatever but I just don't care.
I guess I will have to say that most of this is probably because "media" has gone entirely to shit so its all so boring. It's the same thing done over and over but re-skinned to make you think it's something new.
Add in the woke garbage they have been injecting for 10-15+ years? Yeah. I don't really care.
Now, with the new "AI's". Fuck, you can make some damn impressive shit just sitting at home and telling the computer to do something.. So long as you will pay for the cycles. It won't be as good or clean or well done (yet) but people already don't give a fuck.
Ill continue trying to archive older stuff and mostly ignoring the "modern" garbage.
I downloaded a 4K version on torrent just to see how the CGI evolved since the first one was released back in 2009, and wasn't impressed at all.
I also agree with him, the analogy of the hot girl without personality is spot on.
The Avatar movies are like a roller coaster ride. They’re fun and exciting, but intellectually and emotionally shallow. You enjoy them. You’ll go for more roller coaster rides in the future, but there is not much to say about them other than that they are fun.
Twister (1996) was accused of being all special effects loaded action and no story. It had a story, but it was not interesting enough to stand on its own. No one would want to read a book version of Twister.
I think the avatar movies have a better story than Twister and much better visuals and action. It’s a better roller coaster ride and the story isn’t so lame that people will write off the entire movie because of it.
Yeah, that's a pretty good way to explain it. There are plenty of movies like that too that are "fun" but "empty".
Good points. The first was good. Never saw the second. I'd rather get older movies. The last good movie I saw in a theater was "Hostiles".

I watched it once and didn't get the appeal. I was just another anti-colonization movie.
Yeah, that was another point that many people didn't seem to get. It was anti-colonization (White people) and pro race mixing.
I was done with that when the first one was basically a cgi advertisement for race mixing.
It’s similar to what makes a good song. A story that stands on its own.
