Let’s not forget the White manchild pilot who plays with toys on the ship’s consoles. Firefly was beloved by the libertarian types because Mal portrayed the “keep flying” and anti-oppression archetypes, but Whedon himself acknowledged the libertarians were wrong, just that the government just went a little too far with “good intentions.”
