I can do that. It took lots of trial and error, then it just happened. You have to concentrate on relaxing your throat muscles and making your voice box vibrate.

You're actually singing in a normal tone, but your larynx is vibrating an octave lower. And like the singer in your link, monotone is much easier than changing notes. It's easiest for me in the morning after coffee.
