Stories of misbehaving moderators and administrators from all around the Internet.
Welcome!
The Internet sadly has an abundance of communities with ruthless and hostile moderators and administrators who behave irresponsibly, harm their own cause, abuse their powers and oppress innocent users without recourse.
We strive to make the Internet more peaceful and productive by exposing those who perpetuate hostility.
Have you witnessed moderator or adminisrator of an online community doing any of these things?
You are not alone. This is the right place to share your story!
Follow these guidelines in order to provide the best possible experience to fellow users of this community.
Posts that are not safe for work (“NSFW”) must be marked as such in the submission form.
No internal hostility or victim blaming: Devaluing any legitimate criticism by labelling it “whining”, “tears”, “bitching”, “crying”, “wailing”, “snowflake”, “butthurt” or in other dismissive ways is strongly discouraged here, in order to provide a warm, safe and welcoming space to those who share their stories and grievances. Thanks for understanding.
Instead: You may constructively, logically and sincerely criticize the poster, which provides value instead of discouragement.
Exposing Internet hostility actually is quite the contrary: Courageful. Knowing in advance where to avoid hostility is beneficial to fellow Internet users.
But shaming abusive mods/admins (i.e. for venting) is encouraged.
No disruptive spam or vandalism.
Swearing for venting and emphasis: Allowed, but it is recommended to put profane language into spoiler tags[like this](#spoiler). The contents of spoiler tags will be revealed upon hovering above it with the mouse cursor or tapping on it.
Self-promotion is allowed if it adds value.
Contrary to the name _“ModAbuse”_, you are also welcome to expose hostile users that are non- or former moderators and/or administrators, because it also helps readers circumventing online hostility.
E.g. Zero doxxing, even if you really despise who you are exposing. Only mention personal information (e.g. full name) if it is already consentfully public.
And last but not least:
Be fair.
Please don't accuse moderators or administrators of things they actually didn't do, even if you despise them.
We recommend you to answer the following questions in your post. Not mandatory, but encouraged:
Why do you think the moderators or administrators acted like they did?
Are you the only user they did this to, or other users too?
Flair your posts after submission for categorization.
Recommendation: Keep an evident record of misbehaving moderators and administrators by using web archival services such as the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org) and Archive.Today (archive.li). Include them in your posts and comments.
Be logically comprehensive.
Be open-minded.
Assume good faith, be civil and respectful to fellow users.
Embrace constructive criticism.
Communicate as sincerely as possible.
Speak in a moderate tone and avoid UPPERCASE SCREAMING.
If multiple flairs apply (e.g. “Verbal abuse”, “Personal attacks” and “Suppression” simultaneously), then choose whichever flair you consider more prelevant, but mention the other points in your post's text.
You may crosspost from other subverses and external websites, but if needed, add elaborative information using a text post, or per additional pinned comment.
Feel free to also expose social media misconducts of individuals. Use the “Social media misconduct” or “Social media block” flair for it.
Share updates on past reports using the Update flair or by adding comments to the original post.
Links you already visited show up in light green (and purple inside comments).
