It should be unlimited in the fast lane once you are away from areas with heavy traffic, as long as there is a shoulder.

Speed limits need to be abolished, they are just a tax. Driving in the left lane while not actively passing, you should lose you license to drive (third offense).

Last time I was driving on I-70 through Missouri were doing 80mph no problem. I even had a semi pass me he must have been going 90.

The speed limit should gradually increase as we improve the cars and become better humans over time.. atleast that what i naively thought was the case when i was younger.

but you also have to account for the old cars that are still on the road, and an aging population driving them with far poorer reaction times.

Maine's interstate speed limit is 75 once you get out of city limits. We usually run around 85 because the cops won't bother you at 10 over. Not that long ago it was still 55 from the 1973 oil crisis.
