Who can enlist in the U.S. Army?
With the upcoming changes, the following criteria must be met to enlist with the U.S. Army:
- Be between 17 and 42 years old (starting April 20);
- Be medically and physically fit;
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a valid Green Card;
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Earn a minimum score on the Army’s entrance test.
That last one... I believe they target a minimum of IQ of 85 - anything lower than that and they're not trainable. That eliminates a lot of brownoids.
Heh, I scored an 85 on the ASVAB. My recruiters were very excited to push me on forward. But, since I was 17 at the time, they told me I could only choose from six different MOS which didn't include the 25B I wanted. Instead, they chose for me 12K and told me I could change it later. They lied about that.
25B is Network Engineer. 12K is plumber.
and told me I could change it later
I know a few people with similar tales to tell. Mostly they were lied to.
There's a special place in hell for recruiters!
Yeah we had plenty of ‘Cat 4’ cannon fodder in the late 60s and early 70s. Didn’t work too well…
That was McNameras doing.
True. Sure did suck though putting up with men that were barely literate or able to dress themselves.
