I'll bet it had a couple of nukes on board and there was a BROKEN ARROW(U) Event.

They arm before each mission. They aren’t going to have a jet sitting around with ordnance, let alone a nuke. They need a mission before knowing what to load. They do not leave jets sitting around loaded with weapons dude lol.
