I am sorry, but the author doesn't understand what is really going on in the Ukraine. This is a war against ground zero for the DS. Have to take down the Nazis, the major and minor DS players, shut down their money laundering operation, take care of the bio-labs, take care of the potential for one or more dirty bombs and eliminate the human trafficking operation. Russia is doing the heavy lifting in the East/South and the US is working the rest of the country. Also, there is a general misunderstanding of future kinetic warfare. Each adversary is different of course. Against the major adversaries: if we need a lot of boots on the ground, we have screwed up big time. With Russia and China, one challenge is the very large bomber exclusive area. That drives the need for hypersonic missiles, more bombers and some other cool stuff. Use their strength against them and strategic targeting to accelerate the end of the war. One place that we currently have a major challenge is the onesy twosy type warfare. That is why Afghanistan dragged on. That and repeating the Vietnam mistake of allowing a sanctuary in a neighboring country.
