This is probably less about weapon effectiveness and more about awarding a contract to Sig instead of Colt to manufacture firearms for the military. Both make a fine gun although I'm curious why they went with Sig after the issues they had with the P320
Sig makes pieces of shit. I don't understand why people like them. Maybe it's just hit or miss and they got the good ones?
I've had good luck with them in the past.
good question. I am not certain if Colt pushes that caliber or not - I would assume if 6.8 was the de facto going forward and Sig already had it, that might've been the acquisition edge necessary for contract award. From what I gather, dropping 5.56 was was going to happen no matter what; 7.62 just cutting it any either. I know the 6.5 Grendle was tossed around a few special units, so it seems that's the way it was going to go.
As for the P320, I get there were [serious] growing pains [design flaw], but I would never trade in mine. It is the sweetest pistol I have ever fired - and dead accurate.
