No one knows. They are defaulting to he but the pilot is being hidden from the public.

Conjecture is that the pilot is female.

And this video makes it more likely to be pilot caused crash

That's a normal speed. Only issue is they chopped the throttle. Landings are done at medium to high throttle, and kept there until stopped by the wire.

Ward Carrol posted the video on his YouTube channel. That doesn't 100% confirm legitimacy, but he has a lot of experience on a carrier, and a lot of hours as REO in the tomcat.
