I went to Perris Island for boot camp (USMC 95-2013) and I'm 100% positive you cant escape from there...period. Its armed guards on one side of the island and a swamp filled with gators and snakes on the other. Not to mention all the fucking DI's that are all looking for a reason to thrash the shit out of you at all times....I can only assume that Camp Pendleton is the same way accept you cant escape because your in the middle of the desert. What in the fuck goes on in Army bootcamp that allows you to wander off the rifle range into civilians with buses that you can highjack with you're stolen rifle? I expect this from the Airforce.....I have stories for days. But the Army? ....and he was escaping to New Jersey..lol I joined the Marines to get the fuck out of there and I never went back.
