Say you invested 1.2M over that time, you could easily have an income of $3000 a month, tax free if invested in the proper bonds.

Yes. And it doesn't even need to be a menial job. You could take a job doing something you like that you wouldn't ordinarily consider because it didn't pay enough, or didn't have enough hours.
I'd keep cleaning toilets even with 3k coming in. It's easy, mindless work, that doesn't involve talking to anyone for 6 hours of the shift. So 6k a month instead of 3? If you can't live good off 6k you need a mental checkup
Yeah having that guaranteed income would be such a nice cushion to have. Just take some zero stress job and call it a day. If it inconveniences you in the slightest just move on because your baseline is always covered.
