I am scared of a future where 15 tons is not enough to withstand the situational requirements. I suspect the softer portions of the subject matter would rip off long before the rope gives out, however.

I figure the best bet is to just do it over a suspended drop over a gorge or something. Then even if the rope snaps the problem solves itself.
